Print Your Own Ribbon Tutorial--Part I

print your own ribbon tutorial

Can't find the printed ribbon you need? Print it yourself!

What we need is to find the image on internet (or take a picture); copy/paste the image to the MS WORD template (click to download) ; print the image on Avery light fabric transfer; cut the fabric transfer to 3/8", 7/8" or 1.5" strips then iron the image to ribbon.

1. Find image online or take your own picture. I took a picture of the penguins on my daughter's dress, copy/paste several times to make a ribbon pattern. Open the image using Photo Shop Elements or MS Paint (Click here to see how to copy image and paste to a template using MS Paint). In example below, I want to copy/paste the whole image to the template. What I need to do is to "select all" (command+a for Mac or ctrl+a for PC), then copy.

***Important, you need to "Flip the image using the software, or select mirror image (reverse image) from your ink jet printer settings.

2. Open the MS WORD template file, paste the image. The template shown below is for 7/8" ribbon. Each strip is 7/8" x 8.5".

3. Below is how to paste several images in 1 row. Open an image in Photoshop or Paint, select the part you want to print on the ribbon, then copy.

4. Paste the image to the template, type several space, then paste again. Repeat until the image reaches the end of the row.

5. Test your design on a copy paper, measure the width and make sure it's equal or less than the ribbon width. Then, print on
Avery light fabric transfer

6. Use photo trimmer to cut the sheet into strips--scissors work too :)
